Close to the confluence of the Banella brook with the Troncone stream, detrital, morainic and alluvium deposits accumulated during the centuries in a basin of glacial origin, and gradually built a terraced plateau.
In this area an artificial lake was formed. Because of the ratio between basin and water storage capacity, its dam is the highest of the Ossola.
